Corten steel rust process
Corten steel is a unique type of steel that protects itself with a layer of rust when exposed to the outside air. The Flyn letterbox is supplied unrusted and develops its characteristic rust color in approximately 6 to 12 months. This process can be accelerated with a rust accelerator, which can be found at the bottom of this page under 'smart combination'. For extra protection, a rust fixer can be applied after the rusting process to prevent rust water from escaping from the letterbox.
