The installation is easy!
- Make sure you have a flat, sturdy (vibrated) surface. If this is not done carefully, tensions can arise in the product that can result in damage to the product.
- Tie bars and U-profiles in planters are essential for construction and dimensional stability. Always place these if they are included!
- When placing the U-profiles, keep in mind that the cap is at the top with the short setting towards the back wall.
- Use an M8x30 bolt to attach the U-profile at the top, at the bottom use an M8x20 bolt in combination with 2 washers and an M8 nut. Place the bolts with the bolt head outwards, so that the container ultimately rests on the bolt heads.
- Connect the 4 walls with each other, while the walls are on the ground on the top edge, so the planter only needs to be turned once.
- Use M8x20 bolts and tighten them finger tight. Tightening follows after placing the corner plates.
- Place the corner plates in the corners, if supplied. Place them in the container, with the raised edge towards the top edge of the container.
- Use M8x20 bolts and tighten them by hand first. Place the bolts with the bolt head upwards, so that the container ultimately rests on the bolt heads.
- After all bolts have been installed, they can all be tightened.
- If supplied, place tie rods between the two long walls. These will ensure that the planter will retain its shape and are therefore essential!
- Loosen the M8x20 bolts at the bottom of the corten planter and place the lower tie rod (top one in the image) in the U-profiles.
- Place the second tie rod halfway through the planter, using the M8x100 bolts for this.
- Once all panels and profiles are in place as desired and the bolts are all tightened, turn the planter over. Follow the planting advice below to get the most out of this beautiful planter!
How to plate a corten steel planter cheaply?
- Fill the container with a layer of pebbles about 10cm high. Do not use hydro granules with the cheaper Corten container. Pay attention to this! Use pebbles instead of hydro granules when baking Corten!
- Place a moisture-permeable anti-root cloth over the pebbles. Pay attention to this! Raise the cloth at least 10 cm at the edges for ideal performance.
- Cover the anti-root cloth with a layer of airy soil mixture tailored to the planting to be planted. Pay attention to this! The soil in the container should “never” be tamped down, as this can cause damage to the cheap Corten steel planter.
