The evenings in the summer are of course good for spending time outdoors. Enjoy the pleasant warmth of a patio heater on your patio or under the canopy!
But how much does such a patio heater actually consume? A logical question if you regularly turn the patio heater to the ON position. We are happy to tell you what a patio heater consumes so that you are aware of this.
The costs of patio heaters obviously depend on the type of patio heater, the power, but also the price of the energy supplier.
It's still possible! Enjoy the warmth under the veranda of a patio heater, especially if you handle it responsibly, so that you are not faced with any surprises afterwards.
For example, you can choose to connect the patio heater to a switch, so that it is easy to use for everyone. Or link it to an (app with) timer so that you only use the patio heating for a certain time.
If you choose the type of patio heater with a short wave, it will quickly heat a patio or canopy. This way you can also switch off the patio heater more often or faster.
We will use an example to clearly illustrate the consumption of an electric heater. It is difficult to use the current prices, because the costs vary considerably. We currently charge €0.61 per kWh for electricity.
Imagine you have installed two electric patio heaters on your 12m2 terrace. These are two 1400 Watt patio heaters that consume 1.4 kilowatts per hour. Then this will cost you a total of 2.8 x €0.61 = €1.70 per hour.
You can also heat your terrace with a gas heater. For this we take a terrace of 30m2 as an example. To ideally heat the terrace, at least 4 gas heaters are required, which consume 0.89m3 of gas per hour. This consumption is a total of 4 X 0.89 = 3.56 m3 of natural gas per hour. For gas the price is €2.60 per m3. This means 3.56 X €2.60 = €9.26 per hour.
Yet the costs of both an electric patio heater and a gas heater vary per situation. This is also due to the power of the patio heater and at what setting exactly the heater is used.
The costs of a heater are of course not only dependent on consumption, the purchase costs also play an important role. In general, a gas heater is cheaper to use than an electric heater.
Gas heaters can be higher in terms of purchase price than an electricity heater. So you have to make this decision for yourself!
