In the summer you naturally want to make optimal use of your terrace. It can sometimes cool down considerably in the evenings, so how nice is it if you can turn on a heater so that you can enjoy pleasant warmth.
If you choose a gas patio heater, it is logical that you wonder how long on average a gas bottle lasts when you have the heater on.
Gas heaters are often sold, mainly to heat large spaces. This could be a terrace at a catering establishment, but also a veranda or canopy. Logical, because gas heaters have many advantages:
A gas heater is very mobile, you don't need electricity so you can move the patio heater.
Gas patio heating has a wide range.
The burner of the patio heater creates atmosphere and is a nice addition to a patio.
Due to the release of CO2 during the production of electricity, gas is an environmentally conscious choice!
How long a gas bottle lasts depends on its use. If the gas patio heater is always fully on, the gas bottles will be empty more quickly. In general, a 10.5 KG propane gas bottle with a 3kW heater lasts an average of 45 hours.
It is true that the pressure in the bottle will decrease as it is used, which will reduce the flame of the gas heater. The gas bottle cannot continuously produce 3kW for the entire 45 hours, which will reduce the heater's power.
How much gas does a patio heater use? That is approximately 1kg of propane per 12kW of power. Consumption does depend on how hard the heaters burn.
The size of the gas bottle also has to do with how long it lasts. The bigger the bottle, the more content, logically. You can use a larger gas bottle, but the consumption will remain relatively the same.
You can choose propane and butane for the fuel of a patio heating. Propane is an environmentally friendly energy source, just like natural gas. With propane gas, CO2 emissions are lower than with other fuels.
Butane evaporates from -0.5 degrees Celsius, if it is colder than this temperature outside then this gas is of no use to you. It is therefore better to use propane for gas heaters. Most heaters can be connected to both propane and butane gas bottles.
It is important that you take stability into account with gas patio heaters. For this reason it is important not to use lightweight gas bottles, as this increases the chance that the heater will fall over due to instability.
Steel gas bottles are heavier and contribute to the stabilization of the patio heater. Just like you have to ensure that the patio heater is on a stable surface.
A gas heater almost always has tip-over protection. Fall protection means that if the heater falls, the gas supply stops.
Oxygen is required for combustion and gas consumption. For this reason you cannot heat an enclosed space with gas patio heaters.
